Contact field

Overview

Contact Fields are used to save or obtain additional information about your customers using different Field Types. You can access that information using the Contacts module or while interacting with them using the Marqvia Chat module.

Accessing Contact Fields

There are two ways to access the Contact Fields section:

  • From the Contacts module: Go to Contacts and then select Contact Fields.

  • From Settings: Go to Settings and then choose the Contact Fields tab.

Create a Contact Field

Click the + Create Contact Field button.

Fill in the required information:

  • Field Name: Define the name of your Contact Field.

  • Field Type: Select a Contact Field type from the 8 available options:

    • Text (Single Line)

    • Text (Multi Line)

    • Email

    • Number

    • Date

    • Date Time

    • File

    • Object

  • Priority: Assign an importance level to the field (e.g., numeric 1 is the top priority).

  • Search Allowed: Enable this to allow the search function to work within this Contact Field in the Contacts and Broadcast modules.

  • Show On Contacts Grid: Enable this to display this Contact Field's details in the Contacts Database Columns and the Chat Contact Info module.

  • Is Required: Enable this if adding value(s) to this field is necessary when creating a new contact.

Click Save.

Edit a Contact Field

You'll find your created contact fields in the Contact Fields window.

To edit a contact field, click on the Pen/Edit Icon (add icon image here). Simply make your changes, and once edited, click Update.

Note: Once a Contact Field has been created, you are unable to edit its Field Key and Field Type.

Delete a Contact Field

To delete a contact field, click on the Trash Icon (add icon image here) and then click Confirm in the pop-up message.

Adding Contact Field's Information

To add or edit a specific contact's information for a Contact Field:

Access the Contacts module.

Edit the contact.

Scroll down to find the Contact Field(s).

Once you have added or edited the information, click Save.

All contact fields with the 'Show on Contacts Grid' option enabled will also be displayed in the Contact Database columns.

Access Contact Fields Using Chat

Another method to access Contact Fields is when you're chatting with a contact:

  1. Go to the Chat page.

  2. Click on the contact's name.

  3. Click on the Edit icon (add edit icon image here).

This will open the "Edit Contact" modal. Scroll down to find the contact fields to add or edit their information.

Those Contact Fields that contain information and for which you have enabled 'Show on Contacts Grid' will appear under the Contact Attributes section in the chat module.
